1/DEFINITION

The increase in the blood of the triglycerides, the sugar and the cholesterol in the same time in a person is named metabolic syndrome.

The normal rate of triglycerides/sugar/cholesterol in the blood:

TRIGLYCERIDES: 150mg/dl or 1.7mmol/l

SUGAR : 70–105 mg/dl or 3.9–5.8 mmol/L

TOTAL CHOLESTEROL:150–199 mg/dl or 3.88–5.15 mmol/L

2/ THE MAIN CAUSES OF THE METABOLIC SYNDROME

A/OCCURRED FORM

  • The obesity and overweight: The bad diet that contains an excess of sweat or carbohydrates and lipids or fats. The excess of carbohydrates and fats obliged the body to react. Its feed back is the storage of both carbohydrates and fats into the liver. In the liver they are converted into triglycerides. Both the carbohydrates and fats are then not metabolized and not used by the body into energy.(The calories are not burnt).

B/INHERITED FORM

  • The metabolic syndrome might be inherited. Indeed some persons lack some enzymes that are needed for the metabolism of the carbohydrates and lipids or fats so that their body stores them into triglycerides in the liver. It does not use them instead. Some people in this last case might be thin instead. Indeed triglycerides are the stored form in the liver of both the carbohydrates and fats.

3/THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE METABOLIC SYNDROME

  • People who get a metabolic syndrome might develop obesity and overweight.
  • People might develop diabetes.
  • The high prevalence of heart diseases is noticed in people who get metabolic syndrome. It is the case of high blood pressure, angina pectoris and cardiac insufficiency.
  • Metabolic syndrome might provoke renal insufficiency.
  • Also, metabolic syndrome might provoke liver troubles like the fatty liver or steatosis liver.

4/CONCLUSION

Metabolic syndrome has dramatic consequences on human health. It let us think that there is an evident metabolic link between the triglycerides, carbohydrates and fats. The systematic metabolic syndrome screening should be done at the basic standard blood test even in children. A particular attention and more research are needed for the inherited metabolic form.
